Chest Freezers For Sale

Below are tips and advice when looking for chest freezers for sale. Don't make the mistake of basing your purchase decision on the lowest priced freezer. There are several otehr factors you must consider.

There are all kinds of places to find chest freezers for sale. In fact is you do a little digging you will be able to find a great freezer at a great price.

If you are planning  on buying a chest freezer online my biggest suggestion is to make sure that shipping is either free or at a low cost. Freezers can be pretty darn heavy, some exceeding well over 200 pounds. Even if there is shipping costs involved you may still be able to get it cheaper on the net due to the fact that many of these retailers have a very small overhead.

Regardless of where you decide to look at chest freezers for sale there are several things that you need to consider. You need to consider how big a chest freezer you want, the space it will be put in and the frost features.

Chest freezers have quite a range in sizes. They are as small as 2 cubic feet and can be as large as 24.9 cubic feet. A 2 cubic foot chest freezer is smaller than a dorm room mini refrigerator. A 24.9 cubic foot chest freezer, imagine a large refrigerator lying on its back.

As long as your space permits it we would always error on the side of larger chest freezers for sale. You will be amazed out how quickly they can fill up. Especially if you hunt big game, tend to buy in bulk when there is great sale, or you like to garden or bake.

We would highly recommend that you measure the area where the freezer will be going. There is nothing worse than getting a good deal on a chest freezer for sale and finding out that it will not fit in the space you need. If you are buying used, new or what ever make sure you take your measurements and a tape measurer with you.

You next thing to consider is the frost features of the freezer. With this you have two options. You can go with a manually defrosting freezer or a frost free model.

Self defrosting and frost free are completely interchangeable and mean the same thing. Regardless of the term you choose to use it is an excellent feature to have and look for. This feature may end up costing you a little bit more but it is totally worth it.

Basically the defroster is set on a timer. So every 6 to8 hours system will kick of the cooling system and start up the heating coils. This in turn melts any ice build up. The water then drips down into a trough. The timer then kicks off the heating coils and then turns the cooling system back on.

Manual defrost is for suckers if you ask me, unless you like spending a couple hours every few months pulling out the food in your chest freezer and melting the ice

If you would like to get money back and would like to pay less on your electric bill than I would highly recommend you look for the “Energy Star” logo on any chest freezer for sale. You can get tax rebates from state and federal agencies just buy purchasing one of these models.

It gets even better because several manufacturers will actually give you money as well for buying on of their models. In some cases you could get back well over $500. You can find out more about these programs at http://www.energystar.gov or http://www.epa.gov.
