Black Chest Freezers

Before you run out and buy a black chest freezer, read the tips below to make sure you get the right chest freezer at the right price.

A black chest freezer is the way to go. They are sleek and stylish…..well as sleek and stylish as a freezer can be. But the best thing about them is that don’t show the dirt and grime like a white freezer would.

The biggest decision you will need to make about your new black chest freezer is the size. They range from as small as 2 cubic feet to as large as 24.9 cubic feet.

We always recommend on the larger sizes because with out fail you will always need more space. Speaking of space, that is your other thing to consider as well. You really need to have a good idea on where you will be putting your new black freezer. This will also help you figure out the size you will need.

If you are a hunter, buy animals to butcher, or buy in bulk when the prices are right, then you really need to go with a larger sized black chest freezer. The other thing is that you know your family and needs better than anyone else. This will help with choosing a size as well.

Next you need to think about frost build up. You have two options here. You can either go with a manual defrosting freezer or a frost free / self defrosting freezer. A large percentage of freezers no come with the frost free option.

Self defrosting or frost free, which ever term you choose to you, is an excellent feature to have. It will cost you a little bit more but it is totally worth it. Basically the defroster is set on a timer. So every 6 to8 hours system will kick of the cooling system and start up the heating coils. This in turn melts any ice build up. The water then drips down into a trough. The timer then kicks off the heating coils and then turns the cooling system back on.

Manual defrost is a pain in the butt and time consuming. To manually defrost your black chest freezer you will need to pull out all of the food, leave the lid open, and may even need to pour warm water inside to get everything melted. Trust me on this when I say to get a frost free chest freezer.
